BOTOX COSMETIC

Botox is a non-surgical procedure for temporarily reducing the appearance of vertical frown lines that typically appear between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adult women and men aged 18 to 65. Botox Cosmetic reduces the activity of the muscles that cause these creases, which look like the number "11.” Botox works by blocking nerve impulses that trigger wrinkle-causing muscle contractions, creating an improved appearance between the brows. Results can last up to four months but may vary with each patient. Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles between the eyebrows where moderate to severe frown lines are seen. Nearly 12 million Americans have received Botox treatment, and its manufacturer Allergan reports a 97% satisfaction rating. Botox has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for cosmetic use since 2002. Botox Cosmetic is not for everyone.

JUVEDERM

Juvéderm dermal fillers provide temporary but long-lasting correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Juvederm is injected directly into skin problem areas to “plump” and thus smooth imperfections. Juvéderm’s hyaluronic acid gel formulation is said to be smoother than other injectable dermal fillers, which have a more granular consistency. Juvéderm is said to last up to a year from initial treatment. Juvéderm XC formulations contain the local anesthetic lidocaine to provide a more comfortable injection experience. Other recent formulations provide even more versatility for contouring and volumizing deeper facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm fillers are not for everyone.

EXILIS

Exilis is a non-invasive treatment for reshaping targeted fat deposits. It is also effective in tightening loose skin, as well as in the treatment of wrinkles, with visible results often reported after the first session. Exilis is computer-controlled device that’s guided over the skin. It focuses energy on specific areas at targeted depths to achieve
desired results: Deeper layers are targeted to contour fat deposits, while energy is concentrated on upper layers to redefine loose skin and smooth wrinkles. Exilis causes the collagen supporting tissue to remodel, thereby stimulating and strengthening the collagen network to improve skin laxity and texture. Patients feel a warming sensation as energy is delivered to deeper layers of skin. The device constantly monitors skin temperature and engages a cooling system to facilitate a comfortable, even treatment. Exilis treatments may postpone or eliminate the need for invasive liposuction techniques, particularly for patients with mild to moderate fat deposits and for those who may not be candidates for lipoplasty.

In general, patients undergo four to six sessions, depending on how they respond.
